My 08 Lund Rebel Sport 16 is OK right? Do hull dimples help?
I have purchased a Lund. For my fishing experience, was this the best pick? 16ft. 60hp Merc 4-stroke. I reached 55km/hr this year. Here’s a little background. My first trip out I took my family onto a 26 mile long lake. The winds picked up and were throwing up 4ft. white cap triples. 3 men in a boat almost drown in a smaller 14 footer. I feel lucky that my larger aluminum boat with a newly started Merc. made it! What a ride! My question is: After a few hard rides on large lakes, can my Lund go faster with that size motor? and can you tow a 1 man tube behind it? Also is it a Wives Tale when I hear talk about more hull use creates dimples that act as a golf ball does, createing more speed?
You, my friend, have one of the best moderately priced fishing rigs available! I have a 3 yr old 18′ Alaskan with a 75 Optimax for a work/fish boat, and have had no issues with either.
About the only way to increase speed is to reprop the motor, in doing so, you may lose some low end torque. You probably have either a 12 7/8 X13, or a 13 1/8 X 11, follow the link to Mercs’ prop selector, enter the data required, and see what is suggested in stainless.

As far as “dimpling”, i know it works on golf balls, but a boat isn’t a golf ball, is it? Sounds like a story from someone who runs there boat over rocks. Good luck, and happy fishing/tubing.
I really like the Lund Rebel, plenty of Lund quality and fishing ability. Very easy to operate Lund Boats exclusive IPS hull gives the Rebel a level of performance beyond any other boat in its class.
