Leisure Lane Resort, Prairie Lake

The sun was gradually setting in the west as Jon and Margaret Farris descended the steps to the dock and their rental boats at Leisure Lane Resort, north of Pelican Rapids at Prairie Lake. Sunlight glistened on the aluminum boats.

“It’s a beautiful sight, especially this time of day,” said Margaret Ferris. “The water is a rich blue, this time of year.”

Margaret and Jon have owned the resort, which has five cabins, since 2002. They take pride in making, in their words, “every effort to make stays for our guests enjoyable. We offer fun in the sun, fishing, boating and safe swimming in clear water with a sandy bottom.”

They have four two-bedroom cabins and one one-bedroom cabin. All cabins face Prairie Lake. “Gorgeous sunsets,” Margaret points out.

As for fishing, Jon is proud of the 14-foot Lund boats for fishing available for guests. Motors are available for rent. Guests can bring their own motors, up to 15 horsepower. Jon is also very proud of his stainless steel fish cleaning house.

Each cabin is furnished with bed linens, gas cooking stoves, refrigerators, microwaves, cookware, dishes, silverware, toasters, stovetop and electric coffee pots.

“We make every effort to fulfill any needs for a customer who stays here, as our guest,” said Margaret. “It’s our goal to provide quality service.”

Playground equipment, volleyball and other activities make the resort a popular place for people of all ages.

With the resort located only two miles north of Pelican Rapids, guests are only minutes away from golf, weekly minnow races for kids at E.L. Peterson Park in town, area restaurants, pottery and antique shops and other attractions.

Maplewood State Park is only seven miles away. Margaret organizes walking groups to Maplewood and also offers individual and group tennis lessons.

“We have a store at the resort with games for use,” she said, “including outdoor yard games and lots of candy, pop, water, juices, and a variety of ice cream bars and snacks. We also offer baked goods and have lots of merchandise.”

Margaret and Jon take special pride in harvesting vegetables from their home-grown garden.

“It’s all about relaxation, and our guests having a good time,” said Margaret. “That’s what we offer here at Leisure Lane Resort.” http://www.leisurelaneresort.com/location.htm
